Fancy the world’s largest living land mammal for an encounter
on the wild side? Go on a thrilling jaunt by jeep at the Minneriya-Giritale
National Park where you get to see up to 150 Sri Lankan elephants
on a good day! This park is only 45 minutes away from Deer Park Hotel
and its remote location makes it renowned as the best place in Sri
Lanka to watch wild elephants. Oh yes, and do remember to wear dull-colored
safari attire to avoid attracting unnecessary attention and bring
along your binoculars, just to make sure you don’t miss out
on baby elephants playing with each other, amongst some faraway bamboo
trees.

once roamed the earth, during the late Pleistocene Period
nearly 1.8 million years ago. |
